Al-Muwaih served as an important stop for the Kingdom’s founder, King Abdulaziz Al Saud—may he rest in peace—where he met with Bedouins on his journey from Najd to Makkah. It was also the landing site of his first airplane during the early stages of the Kingdom’s unification. The governorate features numerous historical landmarks linked to that period, including ancient wells constructed in circular, square, hexagonal, and rectangular shapes.
